The School of Music is presenting GARY FRANCE AND THE DRUMatix at schools concerts on Wednesday 4 June through to Friday 6 June at the Belconnen Community Centre.

These percussion concerts have proved very popular in the past!

"My Class thought it was terrific"
Val Kendall, Farrer Primary School

The repertoire for 2003 includes Stomps and the music of American Lou Harrison and Australian Ross Edwards. This concert will conclude with an explosion of energy as The DRUMatix perform West African Drumming and Chant. Additionally, there will be arrangements of themes from television and elsewhere, which children will welcome.

It is essential that you register your interest with
Gary France ASAP. No money will be collected at the door: all attending schools will be invoiced after the concert.

"My class thoroughly enjoyed the experience and have been composing and performing their own percussion pieces for each other! They are so excited by what they saw and heard. Well done!"

J. Malonyay and Year 1, Lyneham Primary School

"We took approximately 160 Year K-2 students to the performance. They couldn't keep still in their seats and they talked about the show the whole trip back to school. Gary France's Persussion Ensemble demonstrated that music can be made from everyday items as well as introduced us to some of the less well-known percussion instruments.

Back in the classroom the students enjoyed making their own instruments from the information sheets Gary provided.
A thoroughly worthwhile musical experience."

Val Kendall
Farrer Primary School

"We really enjoyed all the music very much and we learnt a lot about what musical insturments could be eg brooms and things"

Katrina Ashton, Year 1
Farrer Primary School

"We went to an excursion yesterday and we listened to music like undersea music. They used brooms, sticks and drums. We had lots of fun. I felt happy."
Serena, Year 2
Farrer Primary School
